Business Model Canvas template
For seeing a whole business on one page, from who it serves to what it costs, so it can be questioned and redrawn. Leave it alone when the question is about competitors or the industry; the canvas has no box for rivals. Instead Porter's Five Forces, for the rivals the canvas has no box for; PESTEL for the weather around them.

Why this one is share-alikeBased on the Business Model Canvas by Strategyzer AG (Alexander Osterwalder and Yves Pigneur), licensed CC BY-SA 3.0. The original is published under a share-alike licence, so that obligation travels to our version of it. In practice it means an adaptation you publish must carry the same licence.
Originator: Alexander Osterwalder and Yves Pigneur. The framework itself is not ours to license, and the written entry behind this page, its worked example, critiques and sources, stays all rights reserved. The full licence position is set out in plain English.
Before you fill it in
A blank template is the easy part. The entry behind it covers how to run Business Model Canvas properly, a worked example, the pitfalls real teams hit, and the situations where it is the wrong tool and something else would serve better.
